Transcription: A house which is visually in harmony with the landscape does not necessarily function in harmony with the ecological order. Earth-burming and sod roofs are generally effective energy conservation techniques which, as in this case, allow the house to blend beautifully with its site. But these are relatively small gestures when considering the overall environmental cost and performance of the building. There is a difference between natural design and sustainable design, which may not be evident upon the first look.
